Als student aan de Leeds School of Arts krijg je de kans om samen te werken met andere studenten die jouw passie voor muziek delen. Je kunt aan projecten werken met muzikanten van onze BA (Hons) Music Performance & Production opleiding, om hen te helpen de beste creatieve uitlaatkleppen voor hun talenten te vinden, of je kunt samenwerken met studenten van cursussen over de hele universiteit, in de planning van muziekevenementen.

U kunt profiteren van onze uitgebreide banden met de muziekindustrie. We maken deel uit van het Music Academic Partnership, een baanbrekende samenwerking tussen een selecte groep onderwijsinstellingen en UK Music met als doel studenten voor te bereiden op een succesvolle carrière in de muziekindustrie.
Het partnerschap geeft je toegang tot loopbaanadvies en werkervaringsmogelijkheden bij verschillende organisaties, waaronder Live Nation, de Association of Independent Music en PRS for Music.
Industrie-expertise
Deskundige medewerkers staan ook klaar om je tijdens je studie te ondersteunen en hun ervaring wordt meegenomen in je leerproces. De teamleden van de cursus zijn betrokken bij Music: Leeds, dat samenwerkt met artiesten, muzikanten, lokale organisaties en bedrijven om muziek in de stad te ondersteunen, te ontwikkelen, te laten groeien en te promoten.
Artist in Residence-programma
Het Artist in Residence programma stelt onze studenten in staat om met professionele artiesten te werken en geeft ze een voorproefje van hoe het is om aan een professioneel muziekproject te werken. We hebben artiesten ontvangen als Chris T-T, Ian Prowse, I Monster, Tom Williams en Utah Saints.

Teaching & Learning
Independent study is a crucial part of learning at university and you will be required to undertake many hours of self-directed research and reading, and preparation and writing of assessments. Your course is delivered through several modules, which will help you to plan your time and establish a study routine. Outside of your lectures, workshops and tutorials, a range of support is available to assist with your independent study. Our subject-specific librarians will be on hand to direct you to specialist learning and study-skill resources. You’ll also be assigned an academic advisor to give you tailored feedback and support.

Professional Practice 1: Employability Skills

Music, Politics & Society
Explore the interplay between music and society over the past century. Examine social and political issues through the lens of music development, artist creativity, and the evolution of popular music genres.
Live Event Planning & Management
Learn about the roles, skills, and processes involved in planning, promoting, and executing live events in the music industry. Topics include event origination, audience targeting, health and safety, budgeting, and contemporary marketing strategies.
Professional Practice 2: Research, Responsibility & Leadership
Prepare a research proposal for a real-life project with stakeholders in the music industry. Negotiate a learning contract with an employer for an 80-hour work-based learning period. Develop leadership attributes, responsibility, and critical analysis skills through reflective learning and research practice.
