The Bachelor's degree in International Economics and Sustainability at Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences comprises seven semesters. Students spend the fifth semester abroad. In the sixth semester, they complete an 18-week internship.
Basics in semesters 1 and 2
The courses in the first two semesters teach the basics of economics and business management.
Deepening of knowledge and Electives from 3rd semester onwards
From the third semester onwards, contents and topics are expanded, particularly in economic and quantitative areas. Elective courses, both at the Hochschule Osnabrück and at the foreign partner university, foster students to sharpen their profile. In their last semester, students apply their specialist knowledge to specific economic policy issues. They also work on an empirical project. At last, they complete their six-week final thesis.

A specialization consists of three modules that can be selected as electives. Students in the Applied Economics degree program are recommended to choose courses out of the following specializations:
Specialization International Economics
- Module 1: International Economics (obligatory)
- Module 2: Current Issues in the Global Economy
- Module 3: Enterprise and Globalization
Specialization Financial Management

Modules from other degree programs

Examples are "European Law" from the Business Law degree program, "Civil Society and Governance" from the Public Management degree program, and "Management Tools" from the Business Management degree program.
Another option is to select quantitative modules such as "Operations Research" or "Data Mining" from the Business Information Management degree program to prepare for a Master's degree program in Economics.

Besides English as a compulsory language, students in the Applied Economics degree program may complete an additional foreign language as an elective.
In this case, prior knowledge in Spanish, French, Dutch, or Russian is required or has to be acquired in the first two semesters.
