BA in economie en sociologie

Course content for year 1

Year 1 gives you a broad introduction to Economics and Social Sciences. This will help you decide what to study in Years 2 and 3.

In totaal volg je 120 studiepunten, bestaande uit:

• 40 credits of Economics;
• 20 credits of either Introductory or Advanced Mathematics/Statistics (depending on your A-level qualifications or equivalent);
• 10 credits of an introductory unit in Social Sciences;
• 40 credits from a list of Social Sciences optional units;
• Remaining 10 credits from Economics or Social Sciences, or Study Skills.

Aan het einde van jaar 1 heb je de mogelijkheid om over te stappen naar een ander Pathway als je dat wilt.

Course content for year 2

In Year 2 you study your chosen Pathway in-depth and take 120 credits over the year.

Single Pathway

Je volgt maximaal 80 studiepunten in je eigen Pathway en maximaal 40 studiepunten uit andere Pathways van de BA(Econ).

Joint Pathway

Je kunt maximaal 80 studiepunten per Pathway halen, maar je hebt de vrijheid om deze te verdelen over de twee disciplines, afhankelijk van wat je wilt studeren.

• Ga verder dan de grenzen van je opleiding met het University College for Interdisciplinary Learning.
• Vergroot uw zakelijke en ondernemersvaardigheden met Business and Management voor alle programma's.

Course content for year 3

In Year 3 you take 120 credits depending on your chosen Pathway.

Single Pathway

You can take a minimum of 80 credits in your single area and up to 40 credits from other Pathways from the BA (Econ).

Joint Pathway

U kiest een selectie van eenheden in elk van de twee Pathways om aan uw studiepuntenvereisten te voldoen. U kunt ook een dissertatie van 20 studiepunten doen in samenwerking met een Sociologie Supervisor om uw scriptie te ontwikkelen.

Course content for year 4

Als u in jaar 3 wordt geselecteerd voor de mogelijkheid Professionele Ervaring, volgt u de vakken uit jaar 3 in jaar 4.

Afgestudeerden in economie hebben succesvolle carrières in sectoren zoals accountancy en professionele dienstverlening, financiën en bankieren, en overheid. Sommige recent afgestudeerden werken nu bij:

• Morgan Stanley;
• KPMG;
• the House of Lords;
• the Government Economics Service; and
• the BBC.

Other popular avenues include journalism and the media, charities, consultancy, civil service, finance, marketing and PR, social work, teaching, law and postgraduate study.
